The city of Longmont is named after nearby Long’s Peak, Colorado’s fifteenth tallest mountain, and one of the state’s famous 14’ers that has been a favorite destination of trail hiking enthusiasts’ for decades.  The city itself rests due east of the mountain, and is home to over 1500 acres of parks and open space and boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year.  Longmont has been named multiple times to CNN Money’s list of “Best Places to Live,” and has been a past winner of the National Civic League’s “All-American City” award.  Those are only some of the reasons I’m proud to call Longmont my family’s home, and I invite you to read ahead, click around, and learn more about all the great offerings our city has for our community.

Shopping, Dining, and Entertainment

In Longmont you’ll find all the big box stores like Best Buy, JC Penny, Target and Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods.  You’ll also find many “Main Street” favorites offering art galleries, new and used books, clothing, specialty gifts and more, with the new outdoor shopping mall Village at the Peaks is slated to break ground later this year.

In the mood for a truly unique New Orleans style breakfast or lunch featuring homemade beignets?  Why not try Lucile’s Creole café for the best Eggs Pontchartrain, Pain Perdu, or Shrimp Creole and a cup of Southern Louisiana style chicory coffee.

Italian more your taste?  Visit Pinocchio’s incredible Italian restaurant for authentic Stuffed Portabella Mushrooms, your choice of Eggplant, Chicken, or Veal Parmesana, and calzones and pizza!

Maybe a good bar and grill is on tap.  Try Longmont’s very own Pumphouse Brewery and Red Zone for locally brewed beer, spirits, and fun!

Longmont’s annual 4th of July fireworks display is one of the best in the west and not to be missed!

Parks and Recreation

The city Recreation Center offers a lap pool, lazy river and leisure pool, weight room and fitness class facilities, climbing wall, gymnasium, and much more.

Visit Union Reservoir for camping, fishing, swimming, windsurfing, picnicking and more of the great outdoors!

The city boasts three golf courses in the community, Ute Creek, Twin Peaks, and Sunset golf courses.

According to City-Data.com the median household income for Longmont homes from a 2011 study shows an annual income of $58,619 compared to $55,387 for all of Colorado.

Median values for homes and condos in Longmont during the same period were $226,700 compared to $233,700 for the rest of the state.
